Mr. Surinder Mehta also founded ISHWAR - a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) - as a charitable society in 1995.Apart from its efforts from its three operational centres at Delhi , Gurgaon and Jaipur, the Society also sets up camps in different parts of the country for fitting high-technology limbs and modem orthotic devices to physically challenged people from economically poorer sections. The Society also runs ISHWAR Institute of Prosthetics & Orthotics (IIPO) for imparting vocational training. IIPO also provides scholarships to meritorious students from the economically weak. ISHWAR has also been associated with "Manny's Caring Hands”, an American NGO, and has already carried out very complex surgical corrections of lower limbs to transform lives of over a hundred young children with assistance of Austrian and German surgeons .
Born on 3rd August, 1956, Mr. Surinder Mehta, a self-made entrepreneur, underwent schooling at Modem School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi and later received his honors degree in Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.
In recognition of his humble, yet noteworthy contributions to the economy and to nation-building on technological lines, Mr. Mehta has received several awards during the last 23 years, notable among which are the coveted Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award (PHDCCI); Udyog RattanAward; Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Award; Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award; Rattan Shiromani Award; National Business Leadership Award amongst several others.
